TRANSROMANICA – The Romanesque Routes of European Heritage
ALBA IULIA CITY HALL is the only city in Romania to be a member of the route, together with partners from seven other countries such as Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), Carinthia (Austria), Tamega-Sousa (Portugal), Castile-León (Spain), Modena, Pavia and Vezzolano (Italy), Paray-le-Monial (France) and Serbia.
In Romania, the route includes the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St Michael – the most valuable monument of medieval architecture in Transylvania, which also preserves the oldest Romanesque sculptural element in Romania (Maiestas Domini).
