We begin with an insight into the history of the Transylvanian Saxons, who came to Transylvania in the 12th century and played an important role in the development of the region. Our tour lasts approximately two hours in the city centre and is accompanied by a live English-speaking guide who provides visitors with interesting information and stories about the sights and history of the city. Alternatively, visitors can use audio guide devices to complete the tour at their own pace. During the city tour, visitors have the opportunity to explore the old town of Brașov with its well-preserved medieval fortifications. Sights include the Black Church, the Town Hall with its famous ‘Liars’ Balcony’ and the impressive defensive towers. Visitors can also visit the Citadel of Brașov, which is perched on a hill above the city and offers breathtaking views. In addition, visitors can visit the historic market square and sample local specialities. A stroll through the pedestrian zone of the old town with its numerous cafés and boutiques is also worthwhile. Art and culture lovers will also find plenty to enjoy in Timișoara: several theatres, including a German State Theatre, an opera house and a philharmonic orchestra, regularly offer top-class performances.
